Choices
As a child - I knew with the wind at my back
I could always move forward with ease.
It was simple - lean back and pick up both feet
and steer to wherever I please.
Life’s full of choices - a child’s not exempt -
so that wind somehow faded away
as choice upon choice shaped and molded my road
and my child got lost on the way.
I’ve been many places, and seen much of life
with both pleasant and unpleasant ends.
Yet there’s no choice I’d change, for my ultimate goal
is wisdom and mastery to transcend.
But for the rest of this journey, I’m getting acquainted again
with my child from so long ago;
to walk hand in hand in laughter and love,
lifting our feet as our winds start to blow.
